When using my Smartphone or as I like to call it my iPhone, I had started to notice a difference in 2017 in the word processing capabilities when texting or emailing. I notice this mostly because I had drowned two previous versions of my iPhones in the ocean (Not Smart).
When I received my latest new iPhone with the most updated operating system version of the same phone; I noticed that the text editor started filling in the words and sentences for me more than the previous versions had and I see that more each day it seems.
When I asked Siri are you as Smart as Google? Siri said, “John, I am not really sure?” So what does your smartphone do and what does the Internet and AI do while utilizing your smartphone?
I use Google's Gmail Experimental Access and Smart Compose that uses Machine Learning Neural Networks and Gmail can now autocomplete entire emails with this new feature in Smart Compose.
I also use Google's Gmail every day at work and it is filling in full sentences now when I type emails with redundant lines to the same people I work with and respond to all of the time. Even though Google apparently cannot afford to make its Gmail spell checker capitalize “i” for proper American English?
For instance when you put in the person's email address before starting the email, when you type their salutation “Good morning Matt” the name Matt will show up in the salutation before you type it. All you have to do is hit the spacebar and the Tab button and you are onto the next sentence. As you can see in the example below I did, it had typed the name before I did.
So we are seeing machine learning taking over before our very eyes incorporated into our everyday devices.
A year ago I was interested in the personal assistant software with Apple's Siri and Google Assistant and tried them out on my iPhone to see the difference and actually was extremely disappointed in the Google Assistant and the biases it was loaded with. That may just be from the history it accesses or the current trends in the media and what it thinks is prevalent.
Believe me, the technology is amazing to be at this point in our current history so I continue to use them to see what they are capable of. They are obviously only going to continue to grow and learn every day.
The other day we had an accident and the actual cable line was cut to our office internet. Well, where we are in Alaska you are definitely off the grid in many respects the farther you get from towns or cities. Talk about a wakeup call, not too much works these days in certain aspects of computing without the IoT Internet of Things.
If you really want to see what your Smartphone is actually doing shut off the internet for the day. Not too much is the answer to that question. Yes, you still have some amazing cool features like of course your cell phone and a dazzling camera but the Internet of Things is the Key to the big brain experience we are all becoming accustomed to. It is almost like pulling on your pants each day as it is so integral to our lives.
Take for instance Google Maps as it is a great app that has lots of features and is super easy to use. The only problem is if you lose the internet and you want to look at a map or see where you are they are gone from your Smartphone. Yes you can download offline maps but the local maps are only good for 29 days then you have to download them again? What good is that? Or maybe you need more stuff to do and you like that?
To truly integrate with Artificial Intelligence on this level you must surrender your most precious personal information to the real “Great Oz” from the "Wizard of Oz". But as it says in the Movie pay no attention to that Man Behind the Curtain. Well, the man behind the curtain is Google and is real and wants to know what kind of fillings you have in your mouth and what color toenail polish is your favorite.
That is barely through D in the Alphabet and that is not a full list through D!!
Your Smartphone is now the machine face and conduit to the Internet to access the pipeline of information for us to use. What does the Smartphone of today that actually is rivaling many laptop computers for processing power and speed do best? In many ways, this is actually not a case of your Smartphone doing this but actually the connection with Mobile Data to the Internet of Things and Infiniti.

As far back as 2013 when you walked into a retail store like a Nordstrom, Cabela, or even Family Dollar, you're being tracked around the store. Not by an over-suspicious security guard, but by the store's wireless network, using your phone's Wi-Fi. The store then uses your phone to track you around the store, determine if you're a repeat visitor, see what departments you visit, and more. If you want to stop it just turn off your Wifi or your Smartphone while you are shopping.

The ultimate mission of cellular data has always been to be on par with Wi-Fi. 4G has come close in many ways, but let’s be honest; we know there are things we can do at home on our computers or tablets that we cannot do on our cell phones. When we are at home, we think nothing of streaming.
Depending on your internet provider and plan, if you have modern Wi-Fi, you may have no data allowance or cap, so some can go to town and binge as many Netflix shows as we like.
However, this abundance of data has not yet crossed over into our mobile lives. Many of us are on data plans, and it is always possible to use up all of our data before we know it. Streaming through our phones is one way we risk doing this, which is why most people are still relatively conservative in their mobile streaming habits, but this is becoming harder to do.
Before the holidays, we wrote a blog post called “How Can You Hear Something That’s Not In Your Ear?” The blog's title was inspired by my father-in-law asking me that very same question while we were on a family holiday. As a prolific writer and self-confessed workaholic, I was busy writing my latest article while listening to the Killer's latest album through my Bone Conduction headphones.

The 5G promise is very exciting for many reasons we list below but do we need a 5G Phone in rural Alaska? The answer is no because there is no connection and if you live in a rural area the answer is more than likely the same for you.
